The Wedding Invitation I Wish I'd Thought Of

Wait 'til you see what came in the mail today.

First, I saw a brown paper-wrapped package from our friends Nathan and Melissa, who met each other in our weekly home meeting, recently got engaged, and even more recently moved to New Mexico. My initial thought was that perhaps they were returning a book they, or Melissa's son, had borrowed from us.

I tore open the wrapping and found this. Huh? An antique book?

Then I opened it.

Y'all. Shut the front door! Is this not the coolest wedding invitation to walk the face of the earth?

Melissa is such a free-spirited, creative soul, and I must admit to occasionally responding to some of her more high-flying schemes with a gentle (I hope), well-meant, Yes, but is that realistic?

Aren't we all glad I wasn't around to burst this particular brainstorm??

Oh, and guess what? On the RSVP card, we're supposed to write in a song request for the reception.

I think I need to get married all over again* just so I can steal these ideas. Especially the book. ("But why are they sending us a ruined book?" demanded my eldest, taught from his toddlerhood to treat books with great respect. "HelLO! It's their invitation!" pointed out his sister.)

*To the same person, of course.

P.S. We've been asked to dress in harmony with the wedding's color scheme of coral, green, and/or cream. Who wants to help me hunt down a dress? Better yet, who wants to find the Professor some fancy duds? Green suit with coral tie, anyone??

  1. I got mine and thought the same thing. TOO COOL. Glad someone in my life thinks big (since I don't haha).
