The Week in Pictures

Happy Friday, friends! I can't believe another week has flown by. How was yours?

I thought I'd give a thumbnail sketch of this happy, busy week by sharing a few photos. If each is worth a thousand words, there's really not much left for me to say, is there? <grin>

Saturday: House projects for most of the day. That's been our weekend theme as of late. I can't remember the last time we took a day trip. Noses to the Grindstone is the name of our game. We are the Von Trapp Family Remodelers.

Sunday: The Austin Livestrong Half Marathon! Here I am shivering with my running buddy, Kristin, just before sunrise as we headed for the starting line ...

... And minus a layer or two at the finish line! This was my third time to run this course, and I'd say I had my strongest finish. It may or may not have had something to do with the half-bottle of Tang (yup, the bright orange drink loaded with all kinds of entirely unnatural ingredients) and chia seeds I drank at Mile 10. Tang with chia seeds, you aspiring runners out there. You heard it here first.

Tuesday: Making "gak" in our Classical Conversations class  -- a guaranteed crowd pleaser. Recipe here.

Wednesday: Lunch at Elevation Burger with Nonnie (my mother-in-law). Now and then, she drives into town around lunchtime and takes us out for a midday break. It's a vital component of our happiness. As are moments like this:

Friday: A sweet moment with Eliza and her friend Margaret after a field trip we took with other CC families to an educational hour at the Austin Lyric Opera. Don't we all need hugs like this now and again?

Not pictured: My face after watching the travesty that was the Downton Abbey season finale. Or would that be DOWNER Abbey???

May all your weekends be much happier than that, friends. And drive safely, if you know what I mean. Wink.

  1. SERIOUSLY!! (Downer Abbey). Strictly speaking, I haven't watched it yet--because I accidentally found out what (exactly) happens, and I'm in denial. But I really am about to get to it. No, I really am.

Love the hug picture. Made me smile.
